Australia Rolls Out Subclass 189 Visa Invitations – November 2024!
The Australian Department of Home Affairs has recently issued invitations for Subclass 189 on November 7, 2024, with the full list of occupations published on November 20, 2024. This visa stream is pivotal in addressing skill shortages across critical sectors in Australia, fostering economic growth and innovation. A total of 15,000 invitations were issued under the Subclass 189 Skilled Independent visa, signalling ongoing efforts to attract skilled professionals.
This round of invitation targeted various occupations with different points thresholds:
Trades roles such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and bricklayers with a minimum of 65 points, while professions like architects, midwives, registered nurses, and early childhood teachers starting at 70 points were invited. Skilled positions, including civil engineers, roles, such as accountants, ICT business analysts, and diesel motor mechanics, had a threshold of 95 points. Nursing clinical directors had the highest doorway, with a minimum of 115 points securing invitations.
It is also important to highlight that Australia’s commitment to enhancing its workforce and economy by welcoming skilled professionals. Remarkably, the government had set a target of 16,900 invitations for skilled independent visas this financial year but has surpassed expectations by issuing an outstanding 22,973 invitations so far.
